How to Join Skimums

Skimum_Ticket_smCome ski with us!  SkiMums is not a club or sorority. There are no applications to fill out, no annual fees and no crazy initiation ceremonies.  We just needed to call it something to block out our calendars (“Oh, sorry, I have to be somewhere.”)  It’s pretty casual. Just show up ready to ski and have fun. Unless the weather is awful, we meet each Wednesday morning at 9:30am (from January-March) at the bottom of the Gadzoom lift. We’ll ski until …whenever (or have to get to work, pick up the kids or dry cleaning). As we grow our little group, we sometimes break up in to different groups based on skiing ability… or not.

Snowbird_Trail_SignsSkiMums is intended for intermediate-to-advanced women skiers at Snowbird.  We ski all over the mountain.  Know your abilities and comfort levels. If you want to try and bail, that’s fine.  SkiMums are not instructors or guides, but we know great instructors at the Bird if you want to improve.

We are mostly a bunch of local women (yes, we’ve heard The Real Housewives of Utah jokes), but spouses, adult kids and out-of-town friends are always welcome to come. Several of our working gal pals take a morning here and there to join us (ask Banker Nicole and Doctor Liz).

How Much?
There is no cost for SkiMums. However, to ski Snowbird, you will need to purchase your own lift ticket.  Be sure to look into the early season discounts offered by Snowbird and season passes by clicking here.

The greatest benefit to SkiMums is enjoying time on the slopes with friends.  Beyond that…there are also a few fringe benefits:

Free Ski Instruction   The past several seasons, Snowbird Mountain School has offered SkiMums FREE Group Lessons on four (4) consecutive Wednesdays in January (weather and schedule permitting) The cost is FREE, but gratuities are suggested and, frankly, just the nice thing to do.

2020 Lesson Schedule (subject to change):

January 15, 2020
January 22, 2020
January 29, 2020
February 5, 2020

Lesson focus on:  Skiing powder, crud, steeps and moguls.  Learn where Snowbird’s secret powder stashes are and how to ski them!

Be sure to RSVP (form below) if you plan to join us for lessons, so we can make sure there are enough instructors.

Contacts  There are a LOT of other women who love to ski the Bird.  They also like to do a lot of other fun things around town, on the trail and up the mountain.  SkiMums have introduced others to great restaurants, ski shops, hiking trails and other activities, such as mountain biking and rock climbing.

SkiMums is a free weekly meetup group at Snowbird.  Its participants are not organizers, instructors or guides.  They are co-venturers who understand their own abilities and assume the risks, inherent and otherwise, of skiing. In other words, a member of the group has no liability for losses suffered by another member, other than liability she might have if the group did not exist. The opinions expressed on this website are exactly that…opinions.  Enjoy!
